When you sign up for Fizz, we'll attempt to provide you with a free VantageScore 3.0 credit score that updates once per month. If you don't have a credit score, we'll alert you as soon as you have one available!
What is a credit score?
In general, companies use credit scores to predict how likely someone is to pay back a loan on time. We built Fizz for individuals with no or low credit, so, if you're starting from zero, you have tons of resources to help get you started and, if you apply for the Fizz card, you won’t be declined for poor credit. We can say that confidently because we don’t perform a credit check when you sign up! Plus, if you're offered a Fizz card and you pay off your daily balance on time, over time, you should see an impact on your credit score.
You can read more about credit scores on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's (CFPB) website.
How do I unlock my credit score?
In the Fizz app, go to the credit tab
Tap "Reveal my score"
Read the terms and tap "Register and Continue"
For enhanced security, you may be asked to answer details about yourself that only you will know
If Experian and StitchCredit are able to confirm your information, we'll show you with your credit score.
How does Fizz affect my credit score?
If you use your Fizz card as intended, keep money in your bank account, and turn on Autopay, you're putting yourself in a great position to build your credit. If you do not make a payment for over 30 days, you could see a negative impact on your credit score.
FAQs
Does unlocking my credit score impact my credit score?
No. When you unlock your credit score, there is no impact to your credit score.
How often does my credit score update?
Once per month.
What is a "good" credit score?
Each credit score is different, but the Experian VantageScore 3.0 ranges from 300 to 850. The closer to 850, the better your score. A good score is typically thought of as being above 660.
What factors impact my credit score?
Many factors impact your credit score, but here are the big ones: payment history, credit utilization, derogatory marks, length of credit history, hard inquiries, total accounts, and credit mix. You can learn more about each in the "Credit" section of the app.
What is Credit Utilization?
Your credit utilization is the total amount of credit you’re using, divided by the amount of credit available to you at a given time. If your total credit limit is $1000, and you have a $100 balance on your card (assuming it’s the only card you have, ignoring loans, etc.), your utilization is 10% ($100/$1000).
Pro Tip: If you have the Fizz card, since Fizz allows daily Autopay, your credit utilization resets to 0% each time you make a payment in full and your "amount due" returns to $0.
